Can we modify late functional outcome in Ebstein anomaly by altering surgical strategy?

چکیده
lthough one tends to think of Ebstein anomaly as a eformity of the tricuspid valve, surgical and echocardioraphic inspection of myocardial thickness, and before and fter repair function, demonstrate that right ventricular ontractility and volume are also abnormal. The tricuspid alve is simply a mechanical problem—one that can be esolved with valve repair or replacement. In the reported ataset, both techniques were equivalent with respect to ong-term survival; however, tricuspid valve repair was ssociated with a greater freedom from tricuspid valve eoperation. Patients reported their perception of their own exercise apacity. It was perceived to be the same or better than their eers in 49.5% of the cases. Another 31.2% perceived only

Outcome of cardiac surgery in patients 50 years of age or older with Ebstein anomaly: survival and functional improvement.
OBJECTIVES This study sought to analyze the presentation, surgical procedures, and outcomes in patients ≥ 50 years of age with Ebstein anomaly (EA). BACKGROUND Data on management and surgical outcomes in older patients with EA are limited. METHODS Operative and clinical data from patients with EA ≥ 50 years of age undergoing cardiac surgery at our center between October 1980 and January 201...
متن کاملReview of the role of cardiovascular magnetic resonance in congenital heart disease, with a focus on right ventricle assessment.
Adult patients with congenital heart disease (ACHD) represent a growing population due to progress in management. Surgical procedures generally fall short of restoring entirely normal anatomical and functional relations. Further procedures can be needed and lifelong follow-up is required. The right ventricle (RV) plays an important role in congenital heart disease and cardiac magnetic resonance...
متن کاملRepair of Ebstein anomaly: early and mid-term results.
BACKGROUND Ebstein anomaly is the downward displacement and adherence of dysplastic septal and posterior tricuspid leaflets into the right ventricle, thereby dividing the ventricle into a so-called atrialized chamber and a functionally reduced right ventricle. We evaluated the early and mid-term results of primary repair of Ebstein anomaly in adult patients. METHODS Eight consecutive patients...
متن کاملEvolving strategy and long-term surgical outcome of mitral valve repair in congenital mitral valve stenosis
Methods Between 1986 and 2012, 137 infants and children (mean age 4.1±5.0 (range 1 month to 16.8 years) underwent surgical correction of congenital mitral stenosis (CMS). In 48 patients, CMS is involved in Shone’s anomaly. The typical congenital MS (Type I) was seen in 56 patients., hypoplastic MV (Type II) in 15 patients, supravalvar mitral ring (Type III in 48 patients, parachute MV (Type IV)...
متن کاملTricuspid Valve Re-Repair in Ebstein Anomaly Using the Cone Technique
The management of recurrent tricuspid regurgitation after tricuspid valve repair in patients with Ebstein anomaly is difficult, and tricuspid valve replacement is most commonly performed in such patients. We report two cases of recurrent tricuspid regurgitation in patients with Ebstein anomaly that were successfully re-repaired using the cone technique. The cone repair technique is a useful sur...
